Just had my truck inspected in Rhode Island.I inherited it from my grandfather who was original owner. Always garaged 44,000 miles. It passed inspection with zero codes or issues. The check engine light doesn’t come on when you turn the key. Mechanic took dash apart and checked it and it came on. Put it back together and it doesn’t come on anymore. Like I said zero codes run’s like it came off the new car lot. Just worried it won’t come on when something wrong. Any ideas?

Any ideas?
intermittent, faulty or pinched wiring. Loose/corroded connectors etc. Or just a bad cluster with cracked solder joints or something. Many possibilities. I would start with a full diagnostic scan using a professional tool.
