Toyota Tacoma, 2007 double cab, 6’ bed, V-6 Automatic Transmission, 135K mileage

Having trouble with the transmission.

After driving for some time the vehicle starts to pulsate, jerking, vibrating, shaking, I take my foot off the gas pedal and it stops. I continue to speed up and it’s fine for some time, and then it repeats with the same problem. I notice that this happens around 25 to 45 miles per hour.

any trouble lights on the instrument panel?

When did you change the trans fluid and filter last?

Too late now.  Letting it go 100,000 miles probably toasted it.

The transmission is a closed system and the vehicle maintenance by Toyota, fluid should be changed at 100K mileage.

I had a mechanic check the transmission and was told the torque convertor was locking up, which happens randomly. I was advised when driving to remove the overdrive to combat the problem.

it's not closed off from heat.

Toyota would rather have you replace the transmission, or the truck.
