Hi Scotty, I have a 2007 Toyota Camry 4 cyclinder with more than 149,000 miles. There was a squeaking noise coming from the engine but the noise went away recently. My mechanic said the serpentine belt needs to be changed. Do you agree with this? And if yes, which brand and model do you recommend?
If the squeaky noise is coming from the engine, either at startup, low/high RPM, or when your turn the air conditioner on, it is possible that you have one or more worn belts. Sometimes belts squeak only for a minute or two when you start the car as well.
Another weird issue is to have the Alternator checked because certain Toyota Models have Alternators that when they get old make squeaking noises and sometimes it can confuse one into replacing a serpentine belt and /or the pulleys, tensioners, Etc.
If you want a good belt and don't want to buy one from the Toyota Dealer, then buy a Denso Belt and it's worth the price for it's quality and future lack of headaches.
