I recently bought a Volvo cx70 with 113,000 miles on it it has an automatic transmission. I called the Volvo dealer to see if the transmission needed to be flushed and he said there is lifetime fluid in the transmission and it doesn't need a transmission flush. is it a smart move to flush it out anyway?
Volvo automatic tranny oil change intervals:
AISIN 8 speed automatic - 60k miles.
AISIN 5 speed automatic - 50k miles.
AISIN 6 speed automatic - 40k miles.
FORD 6 speed dual clutch - 30k miles.
(On the Ford dual clutch automatic, Changing it even more frequently is a good idea)
Change your fluid often even more frequently used he the intervals here.
it is not recommend to flush, just drain and refill.
lifetime fluid is a lie, they just want your tranny to wear out faster.
Well it’s a five speed one. If I ask will they change the fluid or should I find a different mechanic that is not the dealer.
That’s a very good transmission. They easily last 200,000 miles.
Just keep the oil and oil filter clean.
(Note that that the exact oil quantity may differ from exact variation to variation - at most 4.0L on the 5 speed)
Drain+fill the transmission fluid every 40-50k miles, don't flush as that can cause problems.
