I have a 2007 Jetta Wolfsburg. It is 2.5 liter , 5 cylinder automatic. My problem is that, once the car has had a chance to
warm up to running temperature, from a dead stop, the car radically jumps forward with a "bang" while accelerating.
The car performs great from cold start. But has become reliable to bang in the lower gears (mostly 1rst up to second. Sometimes second to third).
Is my tranny cooked or is it something that can be repaired?

You neglected to say what your mileage is. If the transmission fluid has never been changed, and it's up there in mileage, the transmission is likely wearing out. It's almost 17 years old.
Odds are, the transmission is worn out. The classic sign of a worn out transmission is trouble with lower gears. 1st to 2nd gear is the most common gear shift pattern.
