I bought a 2008 Acura TL type-S almost three years ago. It’s my daily driver and runs and drives like a dream and haven’t needed to do anything outside of standard maintenance over the past 35K miles since a bought it. However, I keep getting into disagreements with my dad when he visits that I paid too much for it. At the time of purchase the dealer wanted 16.5K but negotiated an out the door price for 13.5K. I know this was ‘top dollar’, but I was willing to pay that for three reasons. First it only had 91K miles, second it already had (with receipts for $2700 done a year prior to purchase) the 8 year/90K & 100K maintenance at an Acura dealer that included the timing belt, water pump replacement, etc. and third it was a nigh impossible to find 6-speed manual transmission. All in all, it is a reliable but hard-to-find car; in your opinion did I get ripped off?

Not at all 91k miles is NOTHING for those cars. Its barely broken in and as long as you take care of it it should last 350k miles or more. Plus its a Type S so its really nice and I would love to have that car tbh. And even better it already has the 100k mile maintenance done which means it was likely taken good care of before you bought it. Plus you talked the dealer down 3k dollars which is great. I just looked for the same car you have and the lowest price I could find was exactly what you paid for yours in a 2012 which is about what yours would be like if you bought another one today and I couldn't an older one for sale because people love them since their fancy Hondas. You paid the literally the lowest I could find in the ENTIRE US of my sweeping search.
The only way you could have bought it for cheaper is if you were like Scotty and had some kind of insane deal you couldn't pass up like his wifes lexus that he paid 3k for because a customer of his offered it to him after his dad passed and they didn't need the car at all but I've never seen a deal like that personally and could you have got the car for cheaper???? I really doubt it I literally couldn't find ANY TL cheaper in entire US apples for apples.
Tell your Dad I said he's delusional and to stop harassing you about it. You got the BEST deal you could as far as I could find and I've got a site that I can search the entire US for used cars so your Dad isn't just wrong he's dead wrong.
