1993 Buick Roadmaster 107,000 miles automatic. Live about an hour from Chicago. Should I start the car every 6 to 8 hours so battery and car will continue to work in this frigid weather. 0 degrees to minus 8 degrees? New battery installed in January 2021. Thank you.
I don't think so but you might want to get your battery load tested to see how strong it is. You can get that done for free at places like autozone. Lead acid batteries are designed to work fine until like -22 degrees so you should be fine just don't forget to leave your lights on or anything like that or you will have a dead battery.
Since your cars older I would definitely recommend warming it up for a good 10min before leaving and maybe a bit longer depending on how cold it is and when your warm it up make sure your heat in the car is off or it will take way longer to heat up properly.
I would keep a tickler charger on it over night and give it a good warm up in the morning. Like the other fellas say, get it load tested so you know it's condition instead of guessing.
