My BMW 2008 335i convertible with 53000 miles has an abs system that works occasionally. Could it be a connection? Dealer wants to replace it at a cost of $6k. Or can I get a rebuilt one cheaper?

Well first start with a guy like me to check it out and pray it's got some kind of loose electrical connections cuz those things are endless money pits as they age and after all that is an add-on system when the ABS doesn't work at reverts to normal non ABS braking
