Howdy guys, i recently got a 2008 chevy colorado with 48k miles on it. this one has the 2.9l 4banger in it and i was wondering if this is an interference engine? i don’t think the timing belt has been replaced on it yet and it is a older truck.
That engine has a timing chain, not a belt (at least according to rockauto.com database).

YEP and according to the internet a nightmare to replace the chain on.
Also this guy seems to be very critical of the timing chain design and the design on the car in general.

(may include strong language, am unsure)
Gee, who would have thought that coming from GM?
{pear}:surprised:
in that case, other than the over complicated nature of it, i shouldn’t have to think about it for the next 50k miles?
I'm not familiar with that engine and can't really say, it depends on how good the chain design is. Unless that engine has a reputation for eating timing chains if it's been well maintained you should have a good shot at it.
