Hello sir,
I have a 2008 dodge charger SE 3.5L with 168,000miles on it.
I have been having delayed cranking of the car for few months and my starter burnt up recently. I replaced the starter and car started working fine.
But after this I noticed that my car is not accelerating like it used to before. When I’m cruising on 60mph and when I hit gas pedal, car don’t downshift or give any power/thrust, instead the rpm’s are going high like 3000-5000 rpm’s but no power as if it’s continuing in same gear instead of downshifting!! But if I accelerate slowly the car will ramp slowly and I can drive to 80mph with out any issues.
When I hit gas pedal hard, it won’t give me thrust/power like it used to, I have to ramp slowly to reach the higher speeds. The rpm’s will go high with out power.
I had the transmission fluid checked, mechanic says the level seems to be higher than it’s supposed to.
NO check engine lights.
Mechanic drove the car and says it drives fine but it seems not downshifting properly at times.
Do I have to replace transmission fluid, filter and downshift solenoid?
Well, your last suggestion will be the most logical place to start because if that doesn't fix it, you might need a transmission overhaul which costs a small fortune
