Hey Scotty:
I have a 2008 F-150 with a 5.4l 3V V8 with 140k miles. When should I do a timing job? (Tensioners, Phasers, Oil Pump, Chains) I know the 3V has a tendency to self destruct, and i don't really want to have to buy an engine. I dont have an roller tick or abnormal phaser operation at this point.

I have always pushed for maintenance before a problem. Most of the 5.4s as preventive measures we did between 100 and 120K. Regular service intervals helps as does premium products during the oil changes. I have never been left along the road or had any major breakdowns.
