driving 2008 GMC Acadia and check engine light flashes and lost a bunch of power

This will need to be addressed by a mechanic ASAP. If the check engine light flashes, you have a significant issue that is bad enough to damage the catalytic converters and engine. I would have it towed to the nearest shop you trust to diagnose it. Definitely DO NOT keep driving it.
