Scotty, I am told by the dealership that at 90k miles I need a substantial service, including a timing belt replacement. The car is a 2008 Honda Accord EXL Coupe, auto - V6. I just hit 90k mi. I never had a problem with my 2000 Accord EXL, and I've never had a problem with this 2008. I do the oil changes, brakes, battery, fluids, filters, hoses, (the easy stuff). Should I bring it in for this 90k service? Many thanks - Rich
They are probably just offering you the 100k mile service a little early. Pretty much every car has a hefty service done at 100k. I'd go ahead and knock it out, especially if your belts are worn.
The timing belts on Honda V6 engines are usually due for replacement at 90K-100K miles so they're correct about that - Honda V6 engines are interference so you certainly want to get that belt replaced per Honda's recommended interval. I would highly suggest you get it replaced at a reputable independent Japanese car shop. From my experience, dealerships usually want way too much for a timing belt service. As an example, my local Toyota dealer wanted $2100 to replace the belt on my 2006 Sienna. I happily declined and got it done at good independent shop for $750.
you can but I say do it at a hundred thousand miles
