I have a 08 Honda CR-V with 135,000. I just had a new power steering rack put in. Which is was just leaking before. But now my motor sounds louder almost like an exhaust leak but it’s not I lost a lot of horse power. And my steering wheel shakes back and forth at higher speeds. Which it did none of this before. They changed the rack and power steering gear box. Please help thanks
Did you have the car aligned by a reputed front end shop after the repair?
A shaking steering wheel can also point to out of balance or out of round tyres, but it’s hard to believe that if the same old tyres were put back together.
Also, check your exhaust for any leaks/loose parts.
Yeah it’s not the tires I’ve had them balanced twice, since the repair and they aligned it.
Did they instal the rack & align it correctly? Since it didn’t do it before, I’d take it back to them to find out why it’s doing it now. A steering wheel shakes at speed for a reason, it doesn’t just appear out of the blue. Same with the louder exhaust noise, it sounds like they messed with something during the repair. Either take it back them to have everything fixed right, or find another professional front end shop to diagnose what’s wrong. Keep us updated & good luck.
