Good afternoon! I have a 2008 Honda Element EX 4WD with about 165,000 miles on it. I was driving yesterday and all of a sudden started to hear my exhaust a lot louder, with a clanking noise. After looking under the car, I discovered the exhaust pipe has rusted off and completely separated from the entire assembly. After spending about $3,000 in oil leak fixes, new suspension and a new axle in the front of the car, I'm really getting picky on what I fix before I just buy another vehicle. Can this be welded back on typically for a reasonable cost? (Less than $800? That's about all I'm willing to spend at this point.) Also, any downsides to not replacing it right away?
Take it to an exhaust shop and get an estimate. Any good one should be able to weld in a new section of pipe. (A good independent shop is preferable to chains and dealers.)

If it's that rusted, you're probably just kicking the can further down the road and facing another failure in a few months.
