2008 Hyundai Accent drive belt keeps flipping upside down

  1. I have a 2008 Hyundai Accent GLS 193,000 KMS automatic transmission and for the second time In a year the power steering belt has flipped over so the ribs are facing up and it has stumped several mechanics, since everything with the pulleys looks good and is in line as far as they can tell.  I'm having the belt replaced again but if it happens again maybe I could have some thoughts on what could be causing it?

The belt tensioner is probably either weak (if an automatic type) or misadjusted (if manual type). Other than that if a pulley is misaligned that can cause belt problems - that may need to be checked more carefully. Another possibility is if the power steering pump or other accessory being driven by the belt is worn and taking too much power to spin.

Any good mechanic should be able to check these things.

Yeah we'll see what he says tomorrow when it gets looked at and changed. Thanks for the info!
