2008 Jeep Wrangler , JKU Sahara , 352000 km, automatic.

Hey Scotty , I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler , JKU Sahara , 352000 km, automatic. It has the “dreaded”3.8 I purchased it used last year , and it’s my first vehicle I’ve owned. In ferbruary it wouldn’t start. So replaced the battery with a high cold cranking one, starter, brake stop switch. Didn’t fix the problem so taking it to a mechanic , they replaced the fuel pump , ignition , and  computer. That seemed to sort of fix the problem, now it starts but is  unreliable. If I put it into neutral it will start on the second attempt. (Also the remote start doesn’t work now) I had taken it to the dealer , they don’t know. I am wondering about the neutral start safety switch, but I’m just throwing darts after all that work. Do you have ideas beyond finding an old AMC 4.0 and swapping it lol. Thanks kindly.

the remote start doesn’t work now

is it a factory remote start, or an aftermarket addition?

That sure sounds like the neutral safety switch is faulty and that's a big job on your Jeep.

Maybe watch some youtubes of shops doing that job just to see what's involved

Factory

are you saying that the starter won't crank in Park but it will crank in Neutral?

it will just “click” once , not properly crank in park. In neutral it will crank and start
