Hey Scotty and everyone,
I've got a 2008 Lexus IS 250 6-speed manual, with push button start and automatic key in pocket detection. I love this car. The engine is old reliable, as is most everything with the maintenance. Here's my problem:
When I park the car and turn the engine off with the push button the car looks like it's off. All the dash light's are off, there's no indication that the car is on. But when I open the door it beeps as if the car is on and, here's the big problem, it won't let me lock the doors. Additionally the steering wheel does not lock. Even though the car seems completely off I can still turn the wheel manually. I live in a neighborhood where my car is frequently broken into if left unlocked, so this is a problem. I've done many Google searches for this specific problem and haven't been able to find it. The closest analog I can find our cars that have this issue when the key has been taken out of the ignition but some portion of the switch doesn't trip and the car still believes the key is in the ignition. But this car doesn't have a key that you put it in the ignition, the key stays in my pocket. Any ideas or insight is really appreciated. Thanks for your time!
Alright, I searched Scotty's videos and did the electrical disappation via disconnecting both battery cables then running a jump wire between them for 15 minutes while having the headlights switch to on. It fixed it for now
Wow that was an easy fix. Please do keep us updated if it reoccurs.
Good Job 🙂
