2008 Sequoia leaking water from passenger grab handle

Hi Scotty,

I recently purchased a 2008 Sequoia SR5 with 155K miles yesterday . The next we had heavy rain and I observed water leaking from the passenger side grab handle as well as the passenger side seat belt adjuster area.
where do you think the leak might be coming from?

I don’t see any wetness in the top fabric or see tear on the passenger side trim.

If you have a sunroof, the drain holes could be clogged and causing the leaks. I never had the leaks from those exact spots on my gx470, but it would not hurt to clear the drain holes if you have them. I like to use weed-eater line to clean them out.

I do have sunroof but that’s not operational. It’s stuck closed. It seemed to leak only when it was extreme raining. I will try to replicate it by using a hose and trying to determine where the water is coming from. Thanks

He is right, you are going to have to get your sunroof open and clean the drain holes. Your only other option is to seal the sunroof with silicone, which won't look good.

On the brighter side, the sequoia is a tall vehicle, most people likely would never be able to see some silicone on it anyway.

I opened that panel and I see water leak and stain on the wrapper of the airbag. It seems to be right below the place where windshield and its trim corner.
