Hi Scotty. I recently(4 months ago) had a new clutch installed in my car (123,000 miles). All was well tell a few days ago. Now I sometimes have trouble getting car into 4th gear. It doesn't do this all the time. What could be the problem?
Check all or your hydraulic clutch components; fluid, linkage, etc.
Your clutch is probably not releasing fully. Bleed the hydraulics and see if that fixes the problem.
You said you had a new clutch installed. Did the installer put in all the new parts (clutch disc, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throwout bearing) or just the disc? If bleeding and adjusting the clutch linkage doesn't address the problem, your 4th gear synchros may be slightly worn. If this is the case, you'll find it hard to get into gear and it will sometimes pop out of gear, since it's not going completely into gear in the first place.
Yes He installed all of those components.
