Hello, please Am looking at a toyota solara 2008 4 cylinder, it has about 60k miles on it, some research shows these are the 4 cylinder engines with the oil burning issues, around how miles will the engine start burning oil? And is there anything I can do to prevent this? Is it worth buying or should I continue looking?

Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledgeable opinions.

It depends on how the car was taken care of. I would not gamble on that.

Okay, I also found an 05 solara with 145k miles, both are similarly priced, in your opinion which will be a better choice? The 08 is about 700 more than the 05.

I would consider the 05 if your mechanic gives the green light. Do not pay much for these cars, although they are good cars and can run for a long time, but they are unpopular and discontinued cars and are not collectible .

Okay thank you very much.

You're welcome.
