I had the dealer replace the intake phasor a few months ago. It seemed to work fine for a while but now that it's been colder out for the past few weeks I have noticed the rattle is back sometimes. It last for maybe less than a sec on cold startup. Does this cause any long term damage or was it not fixed correctly at the dealer?

My 09 Matrix (same engine) had the same cold start noise problem (only when below 40F). Dealer fixed it, hasn't returned in 4 years. There's a Technical Service Bulletin on this problem, and I would have to say that they didn't fix it right. Take it back and get a fix or refund.
