Hey Scotty!
I purchased a 2019 Forte 6 speed manual almost 2 years ago. What’s your opinion on the new Atkinson cycle motor they use? Should the relative simplicity of it equal long-term reliability? Happy I got the manual with all of the automatic transmission issues they've been having with the new CVTs.
Thanks,
Jacob

Atkinson cycle engines are not that big of a deal, they simply hold the intake valve open and allow part of the compressed fuel/air mixture back into the intake manifold. The objective is to use all of the power potential of the fuel, making the engine more efficient. But there's no free lunch here, because it also suffers reduced fuel density and a slight loss of power.
Good luck with the Kia, after about 65,000 miles more and more end up in salvage yards. We won't sell one with over 30,000 miles, because when they start falling apart they completely die real fast.
