Hello Everyone,
I have a 09 corolla w/ 135k miles. My vent control knob is not working. I was changing the air flow to go towards the windshield but I met some resistance then reverse back to air flow towards me then back towards the windshield. I was able to change the air flow then but when I change the knob back, I couldn't change the air flow. Fast forward, I looked under the dash (passenger) and found some wires out of place that connects to the knob. I'm not sure how it's wired. Does the wire go around the white gear along with a black holder? If I have to replaced it, what is the wire called or do I have to replace the whole knob assembly with it? I managed to change the air flow by manually going under the dash and turning the white gear. Thank you for your time and help.

Bump.
Have a look in your local junkyard/s for the whole assembly from another Corolla. It might be cheaper than trying to repair what’s broken.
Also, can you please post a picture of your HVAC panel? It’s manual (not automatic climate control), I’m assuming?
Hello, thanks for replying. I'll consider going to the junkyard and see how it is. If not, maybe I'll live with it. However, I can't post my pic since it's too large in file size. It's a manual alright. I'm just glad my ac still blow cold, can't argue with that.
