Hello,
My wife has a 2009 Toyota Matrix 5 speed standard base model with (I believe) a 1.8 litre with 220,000 K. We live in Canada and in the winter it doesn’t idle below 2000 rpm until it is warmed up. It has to be running (driven) for 15 or 20 minutes (longer if it -15 to -20 Celsius) before it will idle down to around 700 rpm.
I expect it’s an air temp sensor of some sort but don’t know where it would be. I’d like to fix it now when the weather is nicer for working outside on a vehicle.
any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Start off with cleaning the MAF sensor and throttle body with spray cleaner. Then scan the vehicle for any codes.
I’ll give that a try.
Thanks
