Repair/Repaint or don't bother?

Scotty: I have an old 2002 BMW 325xiT wagon that sits in the driveway being rarely driven with approx 115,000 miles on it. It has a manual transmission. It is like an old penny....I can't get rid of it. Everytime I think about unloading it, one of my adult children flies home for an extended stay and the car is needed so I decide to hang on to it a little longer. I have replaced many parts on the engine recently(I do the work myself) and she is purring like a kitten. I find her extremey easy to work on and I only live about 40 minutes from ECS Tuning so parts are readily available same day if needed. My question is, the body is showing its age. Some rust and paint issues should get addressed if I'm going to hang on to her. Is it worth the $5-6K to completely repair/repaint or am I wasting my $. I love the car. It is an oddball like my other two BMWs... a 1972tii and a 1988M5. Might I be better off finding one in Arizona or California. Would love to know what you think. I understand your disdain for new BMWs, I share that sentiment.

Here is your answer.

But it’ll really depend on the scale of the rust. If it’s beyond logical, then it might be best to sell this one and find another non rusted example.

I love that era of Bimmer. Had a '01 325ci and loved it. Hard to make an educated guess without seeing the rust you speak of. Pictures would help.
