I just bought a 2009 toyota 4runner sport edition V6 with 198k from a private seller, an oil change was done just today. I dont know much about mechanics, now my question is; what are the most important and quickest changes I have to do to it in order to keep it in good order?
I’d start with looking at your owner’s manual & getting all the items completed in the service section for your vehicle's age/mileage.
If you have any issues post completing the scheduled service, only then would I start to deviate from your owner’s manual guidance.
It’s a Toyota after all, if it was maintained well by the previous owner/s, all you’ll be mostly doing is changing oils, filters & the odd brake job. I hope you had the vehicle inspected by a professional mechanic, before purchase.
Good luck!
Well, … first: Did you check frame for rust? I hope you did, … and that it is fine!
Frame fine? Make sure you clean it well - in and out - and protect it somehow from rusting! Search for "rust protection" [search window in upper right corner]
Once frame is protected, … follow Toyota prescribed maintenance regime, … it’s that simple.
