Hey Scotty long time viewer, I appreciate all you do, Wondering if you can help me out.
I bought my 09 Matrix back in 2012, one of the reasons was your fantastic review of your wifes car. It has been great... It just hit 145000kms i dont put a lot of kms as you can tell but i try to baby it as its been really good to me and the upkeep cost has been GREAT compared to a civic I used to own...
I do my own oil changes, manual gear oil changes and did replace both the Rotors and Brakes recently.
I do have an issue now the following lights have gone on on my car- Check Engine-Traction Control and VSC Off
I was parked on the driveway and it was a pretty cold night here in Toronto, a good amount of ice on the driveway. The car did slide a bit as i was trying to get up the driveway and then those lights all turned on.
I did do a google search and quite a few have said it could be a bad gas cap- I cleaned it with isopropyl alcahol and checked the gasket and it looked fine. Also while I uncrewed it i did hear the release of gas so assuming it did have a tight seal- The last time i filled gas was 6 days ago but i only did two small trips 3kms each in between.
I used my Bluedriver OBD2 to scan the car as well and i got the following codes
I got the following codes
P0138=02 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2
P0607= Control Module Performance
U0100= Lost Communication with ECM
C1201= Anti Lock Brake system code
After cleaning and retightening of the gas cap i erased these codes and the lights went off.. I let the car warm up for a few mins and it came right back up. I re ran the codes and same above came back.
From the research i could see these 3 lights going off is a standard fault that could be many things.. Wondering if could just indeed be a faulty gas cap or the O2 sensor tripping off the others? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thankyou,
Adrianno D
While you're losing communications so check your battery see if we check all grounds and power wires and pray it's not the main computer going bad a few matrixes did have bad main computers
Thank you Scotty I don't have a batter checker it is a newer battery I got at Costco about a year before the Pandemic.
He means clean your battery connections & then make sure they're tight.
