57,000 km is ~35,000 miles which is nothing on a well-taken care of Toyota. You say the warranty is 3 years with an additional 60,000 km (~37,000 miles), so that will cover you up to 72,000 miles for a cost of $2,500. Yeah, that is not worth it, especially if it’s a third party warranty and not an OEM extended warranty.
I would pass on it. Remember, the house usually wins on these things esp. when the vehicle is fairly reliable. On a German car, it’s definitely worth it (but again OEM extended warranty).
I usually pass on extended warranty, especially with brands I trust. Just put that money you would have spent on warranty away for a just in case scenario which is highly unlikely.
With that said, there was an early issue with the clutch and/or u joint (I can’t remember which one), which should have been taken of by your model year. It had something to do with engaging the rear wheels. Might be worth exploring your model year to see if the issue was resolved.
Other than that, you have a Camry engine under there, and those things usually last forever.
Unless it's a 2002 - 2005 Camry engine.
Agreed.
The term "Bumper to Bumper" is meaningless. You have to read and understand what exactly is covered and what is excluded. Extended warranties and typically gravy for the dealer and practically worthless when they tell you your problem is "normal."
“That engine loud knocking sound. Oh, that’s normal. Don’t worry about it.” ……or “We couldn’t duplicate the issue.” …..or even “We changed the engine oil even though you asked us to only change the transmission fluid. And we didn’t bother tightening the drain plug all the way.”
.
Yeah, they can all pound dirt.
Well said.
What exactly do you get for $2500? Have you read the warranty?
OK Guy's I will pass on the extended warranty and put that money elsewhere ...On Tires and routine maintenance.
Ray in Ottawa Ca.
They said Bumper to Bumper....Toyota all in..?
What they "say" is also meaningless.
My wife and have bought a few new Lexus and Toyota cars with extended warranty. Out of all those cars, only a couple of times did we have something repaired under these warranties. They were things like door lock actuators, and I can't remember the other. We don't get extended warranties anymore.
