Hi Scotty! I live in Houston and just bought a 2009 Prius from somebody about six months ago. In the last month, when my fuel goes empty and starts flashing, I will go fill up with gas but once I turn the car back on the gauge does not reflect the gas being put into it and still shows the car on empty. I went to a mechanic and they ran a diagnostic and weren’t able to find anything wrong with the car and said it might just be an issue with the age of the car. Any insight to what might be happening here and how I can get it checked out further? I have a few tools at home. Thank you and thanks for all your videos!
I am fairly certain that the fuel level sending unit is part of the in tank fuel pump. Pull up the back seat, pull the connector and make sure the pins are clean and not corroded and no breaks in the wiring. If this doesn't help, you'll need a new fuel pump/sending unit.
If it's detecting the level but not showing it's the gauge itself.
