Dear Scotty, I have a 2009 Toyota sienna XLe. The passenger sliding door started acting up a while ago. Basically it never had a problem with the power opening but it did have a problem with the power closing. It would have trouble closing without assistance. This happened especially during cold weather. Now however it will not close with the button at all. So I have to use the power button to open it and then I have to turn the power off and manually close it. I’ve read online that there have been some recalls with these power doors but I’m probably out of the recall period If there was one. I read it could be the fuse but when I opened up the hood I saw that the power doors are part of a block fuse and I couldn’t even remove the cover. Before I take apart the door could you please point me in the right direction. could it be a motor that’s burned out? Is there a motor that only works for closing and a separate motor that works for opening because it doesn’t have any trouble opening with the power button but it will not close automatically and will only close manually. Please help; it’s very difficult to drop the kids off without the power door on the passenger side.
I would live with it since it cost a fortune to fix that.
It sounds like an expensive fix, without a doubt would it be extremly complicated to do correctly.
