2009 Volvo S80 struts

Hi Scotty & Community!

my dad’s 2009 Volvo S80 has leaking front struts. The car has active suspension so the struts costs $740 each. But the car also has 230k KM so the cost of replacing the front struts would probably be almost the value of the car! He doesn’t drive too far to work and the ride isn’t bouncy yet. So I’m wondering, can I just replace the struts with normal non-active struts? I also can’t find a repair manual on Volvo S80s , so if anyone has a source for repair manuals that would be great too! Thanks

As long as you can drive the thing without loosing control, drive it, then replace with normal struts.

You can purchase the 4c struts from IPD for about $350 apiece.  There are also kits that allow you to replace the 4c with other struts.

Hope this helps 🙂
