I am considering these two cars to replace a 2012 Prius.
2010-2012 Lexus ES 350 VS 2015-2017 Toyota Camry SE 4cyl
I want dependability and ease of repair. These can both be found with 160-180k miles for 8-9k In my area (Houston)
Which vehicle would likely be the better value for long low cost life?
after a local mechanic checks it of course.
ALSO since these have sealed transmissions would it be too late to change out the transmission fluid?
Go the Camry route, after you have inspected thoroughly, before purchase.

Go with the Toyota Camry. The total cost of ownership of the vehicle including the cost of parts and repair will be lower on the Toyota than the Lexus (which is a luxury vehicle) even thought it is based on a Camry platform (older generation in this case).
