Hi scotty, I took my vehicle to a mechanic bc my car was pulling to the left/ right with a lot of clunking noise in front so they put on 2 OEM sway bar links & bushings after leaving the shop my steering wheel brakes and gas pedal are stiff & hard it feels like everything is locking up car feels heavy& hitting hard over bumps while driving it feels unsafe to drive I went back & told them what was going on but they said the sway bar wouldn't cause that but it wasn't doing that before
Usually a sway bar can’t cause that, but you don’t know what all they touched to do the job. First you need to figure out what is wrong. Get it diagnosed by a different mechanic so we know exactly what’s wrong then we can decide ifmit was something they did. Understand gas pedal is just an electric switch nowadays. No mechanical linkage.
So I ended up at 2 mechanic shops today but they couldn't do a good diagnostic check bc they were real busy told me to come tomorrow 2 hrs after leaving my check engine light came on I took it to O'Reilly's codes read P0420 so this probably explains why my car was accelerating poorly along with stiff steering wheel & brakes as I stated before my car was having no issues besides the swaying& clunking noise, knowing that the sway bar links& bushing couldnt have caused that problem. The mechanic that fix my car told me he didn't touch nothing else but I don't believe him for nothing the car was running good before dropping it off and now this what could the have done to cause this code
p0420 is catalyst efficiency. Shouldn't be related. But you don't know what they had to unplug or move t do the job either. Get a shop to check it.
I did, they told me that they didn't understand or know why the P0420 bank 1 would be on if I only did the suspension but said since the code is on I have to replace the catalytic converter. So I went to another mechanic they took off the engine light told me to put premium gas and drive 70 miles & see if it comes back on. The engine light didn't come back on but I told him the car is still losing power while pressing on gas.ill be at his shop again to figure out what is going on
