2010 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L PCM

Alternator went bad dealer says need new one and pulley and new battery. Then it won't crank says need new PCM on backorder so I order one a month ago still haven't got says 1st one failed doing another one. Are they blowing smoke about all this. Also dealer mechanic says after we put in PCM that may not fix problem could be the TIPMS. why would it be the fuse box when that wasn't the problem in beginning. Truck worked showed battery  and then it wouldn't crank without charge but said it was alternator and was whining bad when they put new one in that is why he says PCM.

Well realize how stupid TIPMs go bad all the time as they are poorly designed and really poorly built. I would have a good mechanic check that out first. You can take it apart and look at it and see if there's joints that are overheating and discolored and measure the resistance using a digital meter. Because that is a very common problem. PCM's also go bad but they're almost impossible to accurately test and if you buy a known good one to put it and it doesn't fix it, you just wasted a ton of money. Sorry. I would start with better mechanics that know what they're doing and as you found mechanics and the dealerships are idiots too. They just guessed all this might fix it. This might not. You find a guy who doesn't say might. He says this will fix it. Who knows how to analyze it. Good luck!
