2010 Grand Caravan Transmission doesn't shift

Scotty,
We have a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan with a 6 cyl and auto 7 speed transmission.   It has about 170,000 miles on the clock.

We have issues with it shifting.   It will run great until about the 3rd or 4th time you stop, and then you have put the car in park and turn it off and on, and it runs fine until you've stopped down 3 or 4 times.
One mechanic told me the transmission is a repurposed Mercedes transmission and that both Dodge and Mercedes develop this issue if the transmission fluid isn't kept 100% pristine.

I've found references online to solenoids causing shifter issues and the transmission control module being out of sync.  TBT, I have very limited repair experience and am trying to figure out of the thing can be repaired or if we should get rid of it.

Thank you.

TMK, that Caravan transmission is a Chrysler product, not a Mercedes product, nor is it shared with Mercedes.

It is true that Mercedes owned Chrysler for sometime. And that they even shared many components for their vehicles. But that year Caravan wasn’t one of them.

With that said, what is the maintenance r history? Has the transmission oil ever been changed? How frequently?

If you've never changed the transmission fluid, I would junk it. That's around the lifespan of the transmission, they were rolling piles of garbage. If you change your fluid now, it will most likely start slipping.
