2010 Highlander AC diagnosis

2010 Toyota Highlander Base 3.5L V6

168,000 miles

 

Rear AC will only intermittently work and when it works it works great. When it doesn’t work, absolutely no air blows in rear vents. Pretty sure I’ve narrowed it down to either the blower motor or a fuse. What do you think the most likely cause is or what else should I consider? Thank you for your great work!

Fuses are not intermittent. More than likely it is the bearings in the blower motor going bad. Intermittently sticking. You can try a little WD40 or white lithium spray grease if you can get to the motor shaft to spray on both ends. Most the time you just need to replace the blower motor. Otger possibility would be bad fan speed switch. When it doesn’t work jiggle the switch. See what happens
