I have a Honda with 69000 miles now, it burned about a quart of oil every 2500 miles is that normal or trouble? Should I change the oil or just add oil until it reaches 4000 or 5,000 miles then change it?
Not normal. Try some oil cleaner to see if it can help releasing the possible stuck piston rings. I think Scotty recommends the ATS brand. Pray it helps.
You are right in the middle of what caused Honda to extend warranties due to oil burning. Your 1QT per 2500 would 'require further testing or higher up approval.'
"If consumption is 1 one quart every 1,000 to 3,000 miles, the company may require more tests and higher levels of approval before offering repairs. If the consumption rate is more than 1 quart per 1,000 miles, Honda will rebuild the engine to replace the piston rings and may replace the engine block, if it is also damaged."
Replace the PCV valve
Yeup, REPLACE the PCV valve. My wifes 2010 CRV with I believe has the same 4cyl burned a quart every 1500 miles. Changed the PCV and after 2000 miles, level still full. God Bless America!!
