My car won’t accelerate,the rpms go up but it won’t accelerate past 20
Mileage? Any codes?

Manual or automatic trans? If manual your clutch is probably shot. If automatic your transmission is shot. (Though if you're extremely lucky it might just be low on fluid, but if operated that way for any length of time the damage is done.)

You may also have a clogged up catalytic converter. Check that as well.

@Yaser has a good point. I'm thinking trans since the RPMs do climb but it is definitely worth checking for a clogged converter before condemning the transmission.
