- Hey Scotty how’s everything I wanted to get your opinion on this 2010 Lexus is250 awd with 42,000 miles I checked it out today and the inside was good condition for a car that’s 10 years old, the outside had a little bit of scratches but nothing crazy and it’s a red with black interior. It’s a dealer but one of those personal single owed ones and the guy wants 13,500 for it. I plan on going back on Saturday with my dad to check it out with him but wanted your thoughts on it. Thanks for everything!
I hope your under 6 foot tall or it's not for you. But, as always, go check it out to see it for yourself first.
They are excellent cars, here is Scotty's recent video on the IS250.
For problems, the most common one is the dashboard melting because of a lower quality material used in it, which tends to crack and melt in higher climates (California, Florida, Texas...) check for that.
Its also a bit overpriced.
Make sure to have a mechanic check it out before you buy it. If it passes the inspection, offer $9000 and don't go over 10 grand.
Are you crazy? 10 grand? The 2006 models go for like 8 grand with 150k miles in New York...
@end
Price is dependent on generation and age, in that case I thought the value was $7000-$8000 so I added an extra couple grand for the low miles.
Yeah I know. I was just saying that these little lexus cars are expensive as heck and that it is hard to get them for a decent price. That is why I like the lexus gs350 over the lexus is250. It is cheaper, bigger, and more powerful.
It is an amazing car for a good deal as well. Realize they are very tight, though, so hopefully your under 6 foot tall or your going to be uncomfortable. But, they are great sports cars that are extremely reliable, comfortable, have awd, and are really luxurious. I definetly say go for it and you will probably get like $12,000 if you try to resell it in a couple of years because they are very hard to find and are extremely popular lexus cars.
Do you need AWD? Those can be more costly to fix over time than a regular RWD Lexus IS. Also, I am not a fan of the IS250’s engine because that engine which is a 2.5L V6 (engine 4GR-FSE) is direct-injection only and susceptible to carbon buildup on the back of the intake valves over time. You’d have to install a catch can to mitigate the carbon buildup and also clean the back of the intake valves every 60,000-100,000 miles.
I would recommend looking at the Lexus IS350 if your budget allows as those engines (3.5L V6) have port injection (in addition to direct injection) which cleans the back of the intake valves and you don’t have to ever worry about installing catch cans or having the periodic service done to clean the back of the intake valves.
