A couple of weeks ago I bought a 2010 Lexus IS350 F sport in Toronto which is about 360km or 200 miles from where I live. Driving it back from Toronto I had a total passenger weight of about 575lbs I was very careful to measure the gas mileage. The car has about 206,000 km on it (or about 125,000 miles).
The original rating for the car is 25mpg hwy and I got 28 mpg (US gallon). As I did better is that a strong indication the engine is in very fine shape? It seems the engine has not lost any horsepower from new. Is MPG a valid way to get a benchmark for the engine's wear?

The engine is fine. Manufacturers MPG ratings are not exactly on point, various reason like driving conditions. That why it says on the new car paper “estimated MPGs”
