2010 Mitsubishi Galant, 2.4L engine and 4-speed automatic transmission (not a CVT)
The car currently has 80k kms (49k miles) and the owner is asking 4000CAD (about 3200 USD).
Would this be a car that I could drive for the next 5-6 years reliably?
Thanks
The 10th generation of Mitsubishi Galant as far as I know is just another name used for the 9th generation of the Lancer.
The Mitsubishi 2.4L engine is great - truly one of the best engine put in a family car. It has a lot of power and they usually last for a very long time
(Also ~170hp in a little family car that’s under 3,000 lbs is incredibly fun. For contrast, my Volvo “sports” coupe has 20hp less then that)
The F4A-series automatic on Mitsubishi is good. They can easily go 200k miles - but quite a few have had premature valve body failures (as early as 60k miles, it’s not a cheap repair, but it’s just a thing that you fix and continue to use the car)
the engine and transmission are a great combination -
the rest of the car… it’s a Mitsubishi (lack of) quality so the rest is quite mediocre at best.
also this car is already 11 years old so rubber parts, ac compressors and other things may start to fail - but that’s true of almost any early 2010’s car that ain’t a Toyota or a Honda.
check that the owner has proof that this is real millage…
I’m not sure how this price matches up to what it’s worth… but it doesn’t seem to be terribly off
personally I’d go for it.
