A 2010 Nissan Sentra, CVT transmission, 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine has a bad oxygen sensor on bank 1, PO171 per Auto zone. Is it okay to drive the car for a short period of time (some other repairs are to be done next week, not related to the engine) before fixing it?
engine has a bad oxygen sensor on bank 1,
how do you know?
PO171 per Auto zone
P0171 (zero) means System Too Lean Bank 1
You can read about how to troubleshoot a lean condition on this page:

Is it okay to drive the car for a short period of time
yes but I would get it fixed asap. Don't drive like that for weeks.
Actually, it isn't my car, but it was involved in a minor accident. Upon the repairs being made, it was discovered that the pipe leading from the catalytic converter to the exhaust pipes was broken. The issue was resolved, and the check engine light has gone out. I don't know if it will reappear but it's fine for now.
What was the fix?
Reconnecting the pipe leading from the catalytic converter to the exhaust pipe. I'm assuming that's what it was, I wasn't there. Also I guess they may have reset the codes,
