Recently the power steering is intermittent. When it’s not working, the dash displays “Service ESC Power steering”. The manual says the four-cylinder models have electronic power assist, can I unplug the ESC if it is an option? I appreciate any feedback.

You can try and see if that'll help unfortunately those are very complex feedback systems on those electronic power steerings and it may need the motor starting to go out I see that a lot

I don’t know much about power steering racks, is the ESC a separate unit from the power assist unit? Could it possibly be the vehicles main computer going out?
