My 2010 Toyota Prius Premium has 156k miles. I owned it for 3 years and put 75k miles as owner. Did regular maintenance like oil and tire rotation.
the other day I got check hybrid system error, and a coolant pump b error. Replaced water pump. Now it starts, but sounds like a chopper and rattles and knocks. I did change oil and spark plugs too, but according to OBD it says I have cylinder 3 misfire as well as hybrid system check error. Also, after a few minutes, a warning for the power steering, the PCS system, and the ABS system all came on. Then the engine kicked off and it was electric only it seems. Two mechanics said something different ; one said fuel injectors and manifold need replacing, the other said hybrid battery. Could both be right or neither?
Well, I'd have to see that one in person to give a good analysis. It could be one of those or even none of those doing it. Those systems are so damn complex. I do have a machine that analyzes them now. You do have a misfire. First thing I do is we try to fix the misfire. Once they misfire all bets are off it can shut off the hybrid system. It can do all kinds of things
@scottykilmer thanks! That’s what I was thinking too, misfire first problem and easiest with more likely cleaning intake and replacing fuel injectors (they are the originals). Thanks for the guidance!
