I have a 2010 sebring 2.4L with 153000 miles on it.  I have a solid engine light and a flashing red lightning bolt on the dash.  When started it shakes and idles at about 1300 to 1700 rpms.  I have no throttle responce and it will only go about 10 mph.  I had codes ran before the lightning bolt appeared and i had 8 total codes with 3 sets of duplicates.  It was suggested to replace the spark plugs and crankshaft position sensor.  I did that and still have the same problem.

As I would also like to tell you to push this thing off a cliff, that wouldn’t be helpful would it? As you mentioned, you were given general misfire codes. I would take it to a mechanic with a good scan tool to get a second opinion. Before that even, if you’d like, you may try replacing the spark plugs and adding some injector cleaner to your next tank of gas. In the scenario it is the spark plugs, the engine is likely burning a considerable amount of oil which can tarnish the plugs quickly. If this problem had a quick onset, I would check your camshaft position sensor as the engine my be lacking crucial information if the sensor is bad. That seems more likely. Let us know!

If you want an honest answer, I'd drive the car off a cliff and don't look back. I know so many people who cannot stand Chrysler/dodge products because there's virtually no quality to them. It sounds to me that the ECM is having a lot of issues and if so.....that's EXPENSIVE to fix. If you could tell us what at least some of those codes are that would be much more helpful.

A cliff isnt sounding bad but none close enough to get it too. TBH i was considering a rag and a lighter.

The codes im showing are:
P0300
P0017
U0402
P0339
P0335
P0300
P0017
P0335

Those were ran when it was just a check engine light. I was 3 miles from home when it lost throttle response and wouldnt go over 10 mph.

The p0300 is a general misfire code, the u code is an invalid TCM data code. All the others are related to the camshaft position sensor being burnt out. If you need to keep the car then look at changing the cam position sensor and play tag with the ignition packs and plugs and see which one(s) are misfiring and change those. If you had all this done, I'd say anywhere from $250-$550 give or take some.

Ok thanks. I will try the camshaft position sensor. If i can find where they are. Not any videos or diagrams on it that show them very well. I give it a shot.

Inspect and replace your camshaft position sensor. I have seen multiple vehicles like yours come in and the cam sensor is melted. It's a common issue with these.

@mopartech
Ok thanks do you have a diagram or pic showing the location on a 2.4L? Im not exactly sure where it is and i was told there is 2 of them.

First cam sensor should be next to fuel rail

The second sensor should has a heat shield covering it.

They are both located on the cylinder head so you shouldn't miss it. Good luck!

@mopartech
I found them. I got the one on rear replaced. Going to try and get the front one today after work. Cant get the codes to clear.
