Hello, I've recently bought a 2010 Toyota Camry LE with 199,624km. It is now at 205,000 km, and I've been watching the oil, and it seems to burn oil. With about 3-500km, the dipstick would go from the full mark to about half within that short range. Would changing the PCV valve help with the oil burning? As I'm not sure when it was changed, if ever. In addition, I currently use the recommended 0W-20 oil but would switching to 5W-20 also help reduce the oil consumption? I know I may not be able to stop the oil consumption completely but I would like to minimize it as much as I can. I'd like to ask around to see what others have done. It would seem the 2AR-FE engines are good as long as they're maintained to a T.
Would it be worth calling Toyota about this issue?
Any advice will be appreciated!
Thanks!

Well those engines just burn oil. You can change the PCV valve. It might help some and if used that new GF6 oil it can help some. But basically the piston rings were made wrong and it will always burn oil unless you rebuild the engine
Much appreciated Scotty! From the research I did they are good engines. I was worried about the oil burning as I heard they fixed that issue with these engines if properly maintained. I’ll take you up on the suggestions and report back the results. I have an oil change de this week and will get the PCV valve changed shortly after and report back. Thanks again!
