Hello scotty, I have a 2010 Volvo xc70, 3.2 that has 142k miles and my question is, what makes the car loose oil? I have taken it to a shop various times to change the oil trap but it continues to loose oil. There is no leaks around thr oil trap or around it and there is no sign of any leaks anywhere else on the car. Is this normal, I add oil almost twice a month and we always live it to the middle part of the stars, the olistick has. When the oil is low we notice that there is a rattling sound. we change the oil every 5thousand miles, full synthetic. Can you tell us what it could be? should we change other fluids that we would need to change and when? Please advice, I would really appreciate it. Thank you
The piston rings are worn out and you are burning oil. Also, try this -

Do the dry and wet compression test on all cylincders to find out the condition of the engine.
