My mom has a 2011 CR-V LX 2WD with around 63k mostly city miles. Mechanic says front lower arm bushings are cracked, but not urgent though recommended. What do you think? If we can get away with ignoring it for a while, what problems should we look out for that would tell us it’s finally time to fix it?
What do you think?
No idea. I can't see or feel your suspension through the internet, and I can't make an accurate judgment without thorough inspections.
Are we talking hairline surface cracks that could remain the same for years to come, or deep cracks all the way through, and one bad speed bump is going to make it fall apart?
Also, how much slop is there? I would manipulate the joint with a pry bar and see how much it moves. If it's still tight then leave it. If it clunks then I would definitely replace it because its going to start wearing out other components.
I presume that since you took it to a mechanic, you didn't check. Do you trust the guy not to rip you off? If yes and he's a competent mechanic, then take his word that he has already made his evaluation when he told you "not urgent". Mechanics will usually add "though recommended." to ensure your safety, because he has no idea when you're going to bring your car in again. If you're diligent, and confident enough to keep an eye on things, then keep driving. If you're not mechanically inclined, then maybe you should just service it now and have piece of mind.
Worst case scenario if it's ignored too long would be something like this happening while driving down the highway.

it'll definitely ruin your day
