My dad’s 2011 Honda CR-V has around 70k miles and the famous P0420 code appeared out of the blue. (Code concerning the catalytic converter)
The thing is, we haven’t noticed any changes concerning the drivability nor the gas mileage, but the weird thing is that the code comes and goes. The engine light seems to come on when it wants to and the next day it’ll magically disappear as if nothing happened.
Any thoughts/answers?

once cat efficiency gets below 95% that light will come on but if fuel burns more efficiently and goes over that it will turn it off so it runs fine you just ignore it

Use top tier gas and see what happens.
